Playground German
Everything you need for a nice chat in a German playground
Dear Fellow Mom,

After this mini-course you will feel so much more relaxed and confident on German playgrounds, because you will know exactly how to react in certain very common situations: you will know exactly what to say at the swing, at the slide or in the sandbox and you will easily be able to introduce yourself to other moms and tell basic information about your own child. You will have the basic playground vocabulary and will be able to react to other children approaching you and your child in German. Going to the playground will be so much MORE FUN! Not just for your child but also for you!
Your Instructor
I am Marta Kojnok, the founder of German for Moms. Just like you, I am an expat mother. I come from Hungary. I am a qualified language teacher and trained Language Coach.
Working as a German teacher for years made me realize that the one-size-fits-all solution of the mainstream language teaching industry is often not leading to the results that every language learner wants: speaking confidently... or speaking at all.
It is also too much focused on teaching grammar and vocabulary. And often it doesn't prepare you to interact in everyday situations that are relevant to your life.
That is why I am working today with a language coaching approach that puts YOU into the focus of the learning process and not the language itself.
When I became a mom of two, I spoke already fluent German but I experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate and organize everything related to pregnancy, giving birth and taking care of your child in a foreign country.
I also realized how important it became to me to share my experience with other moms. I knew without a good command of German it is even more challenging.
That is why I decided to start working exclusively with expatriate moms. First, as a teacher, later as a language coach. What I realized then was that there is a big need for learning German in a way that helps us, mothers, to interact in situations that are relevant and important to us. E.g. in the playground, at the doctor, maybe with the German family of our partner etc.
My vision is that with my personal and practical approach I can help a lot of mothers to be able to communicate and connect and enjoy motherhood and life in Germany.
For me, it is not about reaching A1, A2, B1, B2 and so on...
It's about finding your voice and your place in Germany.
We are going through huge transformations as new expat mothers:
- relocation: a new country with a new language, new customs, a new social network
- motherhood: a new identity, new fears and insecurity, new challenges, new family dynamics, new financial situation
I believe it is crucial to share this experience with other women and to find back to our new selves. And along the way speaking the language of the country better and better helps us a lot.
